CULTIVATE. EDUCATE. CELEBRATE.

The mission of the Truckee Demonstration Garden is to cultivate a community committed to local food production and increased local food security, through education and demonstration of high-altitude gardening techniques.

OBJECTIVES
  • Educate the community on sustainable, high-altitude gardening techniques

  • Encourage food security + self-reliance by growing fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs

  • Inspire the spread of more home gardens throughout the local community

  • Provide fresh, locally grown food to the Sierra Community House (formerly known as Project Mana)

  • Promote a beautiful + vibrant space for our community to enjoy

GROW-YOUR-OWN WORKSHOPS

Wednesdays starting at 5:00PM

We have partnered with the UCCE Master Gardeners of Lake Tahoe to offer a series of FREE gardening classes each season. All participants will receive starter plants to take home for their own gardens.

COMMUNITY DIG-INS

3rd Saturday of each month | 9am - 1pm

No experience is required to volunteer - learn as you go! Come if you have the greenest thumb or have never gardened before. The Demonstration Garden is a great place to get hands-on high-altitude gardening experience, while also giving back to the community.
